Coffee and pie on the counter of a small-town Oregon cafe

Eat & Drink

Ranch portions, real espresso, and the last fuel for an hour

You won’t need a reservation anywhere in Jordan Valley — just an appetite and maybe a minute to chat. Small-town hours apply: kitchens close early and days vary with the season, so if dinner matters, call ahead or roll in before dark.

JV Cafe

Every real ranch town has one cafe where everything happens, and in Jordan Valley it’s the JV. Come in off US-95 for a proper breakfast before a Leslie Gulch day, a burger after the river, or pie and coffee while you listen to the neighboring table talk cattle and weather. Portions are ranch-sized; so is the hospitality.

Small-town hours — call ahead or ask locally if you're arriving late.

Historic stone building housing Rockhouse Coffee in Jordan Valley

Coffee House

Rockhouse Coffee

Housed in one of Jordan Valley’s stone buildings — this town has always built with the local rock — the Rockhouse pulls genuine espresso in a place where you’d expect nothing stronger than gas-station drip. Grab a coffee and something baked before the long empty miles of the Owyhee back roads; there isn’t another espresso machine between here and the state line.

Seasonal hours — mornings are your best bet.

Fuel & Traveler Services

Jordan Valley is the service stop on one of the emptiest stretches of highway in the West. Fuel up here whatever your gauge says — it’s roughly 60 miles to the next reliable gas in any direction, and far more than that if you’re headed into the canyonlands. Ice, cold drinks, snacks, and the basics are here too. Backcountry rule of thumb: leave town with a full tank, extra water, and a real spare tire.

Fuel available daily; hours are small-town, not city.

Heading into the backcountry? Stock up here. There is no food, water, or fuel at Leslie Gulch, Jordan Craters, Rome, or Three Forks — and no cell signal to call for a rescue pizza.
